Taiwan
Taiwan, also known as “Formosa”, is a small island in East Asia, neighboring China, Japan and the Philippines. The food and culture has great influences from the Southern provinces of China, most brought by the cross-strait traders and early settlers; however, there are also hints of aboriginal, Hakka, Japanese, Korea, Southeast Asian and Western elements in the dishes.
Over the years, the variety of food choices in Taiwan had increased tremendously, many restaurants offer authentic cuisines and casual eats from Europe, America, Australia and other parts of Asia. However, Taiwan is probably more famous for its street foods, ranging from savory oyster pancakes, crispy chicken cutlets, flaky scallion pancakes, gua bao, boba (pearl) milk tea and mango shaved ice, etc., which attract thousands of tourists each year. Meanwhile, the local demands for ready-to-eat foods are also on the rise, people are craving for nutritious products that are fast and tasty.
